Turkey Processing Volunteer Day - Nov 17

$0.00
.

We welcome volunteers to join for poultry processing days.

We begin at 9am and expect to finish between 1pm and 2pm, depending on the pace of the group.

What to expect:

We will work assembly line-style to process ~85 turkeys, and each person will be assigned to a role in the line (based on your interest, needs of the team, etc). Roles include killing, scalding, plucking, eviscerating, and packing. We will start the day with a full demonstration of the process and we will continue to help folks learn throughout the day. It is a fun time to chat and get to know each other, while learning an important skill and working together towards a common goal.

We have a fully outfitted outdoor processing facility with high quality equipment to ensure safety and sanitation.

We aim to work efficiently, safely, and with respect for the animals. A big part of that is staying focused on the tasks at hand and completing the job as quickly as possible to minimize stress on the animals.

We will have beverages and snacks to enjoy after processing, and everyone can go home with their own ready-to-cook turkey (small sized turkey, max 10 lbs).
